Frequently Asked Questions

How does individual coaching help me?

So many writers have been “writing” their project for several years—many ten or more. They pull out the stories, feel overwhelmed, and push it back in the closet again.

Working with an experienced writer can help you get your project organized, set a writing/research plan, and give a guiding hand along the way.

Finally, your book is written!

How do I decide the time period and which people to include in my book?

I offer a Timeline Process that helps identify the parameters of the story. I’ll also help you identify the people and stories you most want to tell.

How do I encourage family and others to contribute information and material for my book?

My help includes providing a system to record the source of photographs, memorabilia, stories, artifacts and other material to help you keep track so you can recognize donors and later return their material as promised.

Can you help me put the final book together—the front sections and back pages that surround the story into a book?

Your story needs front and back sections to make it a book. I’ll help you with the pre-book sections—for example—Acknowledgments, Introduction, Table of Contents.

Post-book sections might include an Index, Maps, or Documents. You may need help in the placement of photographs and other visuals.
